My story

How I Become a Professional

2012 - A Journey into Psychology

My journey into psychology began with a strong academic foundation. I earned my MS in Clinical Psychology and a Diploma in Psychotherapy, equipping myself with the knowledge and skills to make a difference. My early work involved extensive interactions with diverse age groups, from young children to the elderly, focusing on emotional well-being, career counseling, and speech therapy.

2013 - Clinical Practice & Public Engagement

With years of hands-on experience, I became a consultant at Maroof International Hospital, where I guided psychology residents and delivered hundreds of talks on mental health. My work ranged from individual therapy and group therapy to specialized treatments for children with Autism and ADHD.

2015 - Leadership in Mental Health Training

My passion for training future psychologists led me to develop CBT certification programs, training workshops, and corporate mental health initiatives. I supervised mental health professionals in applying Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), contributing to the professional development of therapists and counsellors.

2018 - Advancing Professional Expertise

To further refine my expertise, I pursued specialized diplomas in Addiction Care and Treatment (University of British Columbia), Advanced Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (Centre of Excellence, UK), and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (Beck Institute, USA). These certifications strengthened my ability to treat a wide range of psychological conditions, including PTSD, personality disorders, and post-stroke depression.

2023 - The Beginning of Psych Lounge

Psych Lounge was not just my dream—it was my fathers too. His passion for education and independence inspired me to keep going. He always encouraged us to stand on our own feet, and his unwavering support became my driving force. In 2023, I founded Psych Lounge in Islamabad to make evidence-based therapy accessible. With over a decade of experience in clinical psychology, psychotherapy, and organizational psychology, I envisioned a space where people could find compassionate and professional mental health support.
